EDITORIAL: London Postcodes

By Sepehr Badiei, London Postcodes is an editorial exploring tension, identity and ultimately love as it’s protagonists move between London Postcodes, and the markers of class, desire, migration and belonging that they can carry.

LONDON

W1F 9RP / E8 4HY / SW1X 8DB

I’m always wet

Rain yes

but also you.

London feels raw and temporary at the same time.

It pretends not to see us

We stand too close in the tube

and not close enough in private.

That’s the truth.

When I walk the ground answers.

Splash

Each step spills your name.

We love in motion .

We bruise in silence.

Your hand on me and I feel life rush back

like something forgiven.

Is this love?

Why does it bruise so easily?

But gravity is stubborn.

We are watched by uniforms.

By borders.

By systems that prefer silence.

Separation written into policy.

Will you be taken from my arms?

Sent somewhere my voice cannot reach ?

Erased by paperwork and borders?

The thought sits heavy in my throat.

Heavier than desire.

Heavier than rain.

When will I see you again?

You live far from my heart

because you refuse to move closer.

Spray me like rain.

Hold me like you might lose me.

Let London watch.

“Don't let deranged love rearrange you."
