London Fashion Week is Changing

Last night we received a press release from the British Fashion Council, detailing upcoming changes to the yearly fashion calendar.

So naturally the first thing we did was get it down in writing so that we could give you the T. (as soon as we were legally allowed to of course..)

BFC (British Fashion Council) is making changes to the next LFW (presented by 1664 Blanc - as stressed by the press release) for the upcoming season of June 2025. These changes have been made in direct response to the changing landscape and feedback from the BFC’s huge network of designers and brands.

It’s great to see BFC being agile like this, we’ve seen so many designers pull out of the LFW programme recently due to the huge financial strain that even seemingly successful fashion brands suffer under, so lets get into the details.

So what’s changing?

As of last year BFC introduced a stand alone fashion week every June with a focus on menswear. You can read all about the launch of that ‘new’ change here: https://www.voguebusiness.com/story/fashion/junes-london-fashion-week-is-back

“Instead, in June, the BFC will provide crucial commercial opportunities and secure business growth for designers and brands with a special focus on menswear.” (their words, not ours) instead a BFC spokesperson shared in the press release that June will see a digital-first approach highlight British menswear designers, weaving targeted content into the existing LFW digital channels to promote designers to new audiences and connect them directly with buyers and media partners.

By scaling back to more targeted programmes this June in London and Paris, we aim to create strong foundations to amplify the message of our brilliant British menswear businesses. We recognise the challenges the sector faces both in the UK and globally and remain committed to amplifying the voices of British menswear designers as they navigate an ever-changing fashion landscape and will continue to adapt and find ways to platform our brilliant British menswear business.”

But there’s another change coming too! BFC will also be ushering in a return of ‘London show Rooms’ or the clunky shortened ‘LsR’ to Paris four times a year to showcase british talent during Paris Fashion Week. So this will be taking place in June too, to give BFC foundation designers a commercial opportunity to present their collections to buyers and press.

We actually love this update. A shift away from big expensive shows and battles for vitality, to instead focus on actual commercial opportunities for upcoming designers, to make it less about headlines and more about creatives actually getting paid.

It’s looking good BFC, we’re into it. Now to see our eyes on the LFW digital channels to see how it all plays out.
